Baptismal Challeges

Dear Family and Friends

View from Apartment in Sulphur
Hello everyone! This week was a good week! We are grinding in Sulphur
trying to get this area back on its feet!

Monday
Elder Fata had to go to a district leader meeting in Houston so I got
to go on exchanges with one of the Crowley elders named elder Denton.
He came up to sulphur and that night we went to the gym and played
ball with some less actives, it was a lot of fun.

Tuesday me and elder Denton did a lot of finding. We found some good
people that seem pretty solid. Ones name was Becky Robinson. She has
been looking for the truth recently and it was no coincidence that we
knocked on her door and wanted to go to that specific street. We then
went with Todd and visited some people. We went and visited a
investigator named Walter. He really wants to be baptized but. He
thinks he will be judged and people will do something to him or his
family if he switches churches, so we are still working with him. Then
we went to the Thatchers for dinner and had some amazing chicken. And
last but not least, like every Tuesday, we went to the church and
played basketball with members, less actives, and investigators. It is
so much fun and a great way to connect with those people.

Wednesday me and Elder Fata were back together and we went and taught
Walter. He is an amazing guy and loves our message the The Lord. We
taught him about the plan of salvation and he really liked it a lot.
Hopefully he will be baptized soon. Then we went to subway with Bishop
Stott and he bought us lunch which was really nice of him. After lunch
we went with Todd and knocked some doors of a apartment complex. We
found some awesome people in there. Most of them speak Spanish so
that's awesome! It was so funny. One of the Spanish people's name was
Dom. He walked up to us and said " I baptize in your church now?". I
thought that was so awesome and the Lord really does prepare people
for us. We had dinner at the Wilmores and had corn dogs and rolls.
Then we went to the gym and played basketball with one of our
investigators. This day was a good one!

Thursday I didn't feel good so we stayed in the apartment until about
4pm, then I just couldn't take it anymore. We got up and knocked
doors. We found a couple of good people. One solid person is named
David, he is really interested. We taught him and he invited us back
next Thursday! I am very excited! Then we went and had dinner with
brother Kandik!

Friday we had district meeting which was good. We talked about
something President Drake has said. He said that just contacting
doesn't count anymore. In every contact from now we have to invite the
person to be baptized. EVERY SINGLE TIME. It is going to be a little
scary to do that in contacts for the first little bit but, that will
help a lot and I can see why he is doing that. Then we went and helped
Sister Lundquist do some things in her yard and move furniture in her
house. That night we went and played basketball with less actives and
investigators at the gym. It was a lot of fun.

Saturday we went with Todd and visited his friend named Brian. He is
homeless and has a very open and sincere heart. We were able to teach
him and commit him to a baptismal date for March 5th! I am so happy
for him! We watched the restoration video with him and shared our
testimonies. Then we went and had lunch with a member in lake Charles,
the Clicks. They made the best chicken ever! It was amazing. After
that, we drove up to the Thatchers and rode with them to the adult
session of stake conference in Orange. It was nice not having to drive
for once. It was a great meeting and I felt the spirit really strong.

Sunday we went with the Thatchers again down to Orange and had the
main session of stake conference. There were some great talks. One
statement I heard that really stood out to me was from the stake
president, President Newton. He said, " as long as you know that you
have a father in heaven that loves you, then you will always know that
everything will be alright". I loved that statement. It really hit me
hard. Our Heavenly Father is always there for us and he loves us so
much we can't even comprehend. Then we went to Todds and met another
one of his friends, josh. He has a very open heart. We watched the
restoration with him and were able to teach him and committed him to
March 5th as well for baptism! It was awesome!

This week was good! I love you all and am so grateful for all the
support! Have a good week and happy Valentine's Day! Until next week!
Elder Sirrine🇨🇱
